Why is Demeco Ryans week 5 sit/start rating a 5?

For the past couple seasons, Pitt has shifted away from a run-first offense.

So far this year, Demeco hasnt been in on passing downs.

What am I missing?

Not sure if that was a typo on Bill's part or if he knows something we don't. I agree that Ryans is more of a 3, 4 at most type of player on the rating scale. I can't rank him as a 5 until he starts playing in subpackages and he has a very solid matchup.

ya i think against the #1 ranked running team he will see atleast 8 total tackles this week. he is avg 8 tackles per gam against Oakland in his career and last time he faced them he had 11 tackles. i have a gut feeling he will have a big week.
Thanks Bill

Re: Why is Demeco Ryans week 5 sit/start rating a 5?

Even though Oakland is the #1 ranked rushing team, they don't give up as many points to linebackers as one may think. They are currently giving up the 17 most points to LBs according to our points allowed feature. The good news is that Ryans will likely see an increased snap count as the Raiders don't use many multiple receiver sets as other teams. Ryans should see about 85% of the team's snap. I agree with Bill that 8 total tackles is a reasonable expectation. I would rank him as a 4 personally.
