LaRon Landry

I got offered Landry in one of my leagues and was curious what people thought of him and if you think hell be again to regain that 2010 form under Rex with the ILB's past their prime

Re: LaRon Landry

I have him ranked in the top 20. He has top 5 upside IMO, but he's a huge injury risk and I'd be very surprised to see him make it through a complete season. As long as he's in the game, I think he puts of DB1-type numbers though.

Re: LaRon Landry

I saw an article say that safeties don't feature well in Rex's defensive schemes, is that true or was it just a by product of not having elite safety talent the last couple years. Also I saw he would be spending a lot of time as FS but still being in the box a lot, will the switch to FS hurt his value if hes on the field? I don't expect it to with the ILB being past their prime

Re: LaRon Landry

I think it's more of them not having a high level talent as safety the last couple of seasons. The safety positions in Ryan's scheme are interchangeable so the FS slot doesn't concern me at all. Bottom line is there is very little competition for tackles within the front seven and Landry will be called upon to blitz and disrupt the backfield. He's the type of player (e.g. Troy Polamalu) that just makes plays and generates fantasy points.

Re: LaRon Landry

The only downside I see is that they want to use him in coverage against bigger TE's like against the pats

Re: LaRon Landry

That's actually a good thing in my eyes. Safeties rack up a lot of there tackles covering tight ends. This is due to the fact that they are usually mismatched and opposing offenses will take advantage of that all day.

Re: LaRon Landry

I guess that's true, I was thinking more of when the skins would use Landry to shadow Vick so he couldn't make runs out of the pocket and he would be put in a similar role just showing gronk of other big TE's
