IDP n00b

This is my first year ever playing in a IDP league, and I must say I have no idea what I'm doing, I consider myself a pretty experienced and knowledgable fantasy owner but IDP is totally new to me. I basically waited untill the last few rounds (when most other people started drafting IDPs) and picked the highest players off a list a friend gave me. Here's what I ended up with:

14 team league.
LB Curtis Lofton, NO LB
DL Calais Campbell, Ari DE
DB George Wilson, Buf S
DB DeAngelo Hall, Wsh CB

So I'm kind of curious how I did, and what I should look out for? Do I play IDP players like I do DST/K players: drop and pick up whoever has a favorable schedule that week, or like RB/WR: keep my studs (do I have any?) and know they might have a down week every now and again, or is it somewhere in the middle?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Scoring System:
Each Sack (SK) 6
Total Tackles (TK) 1
Interception Return TD (INTTD) 5
Fumble Return TD (FRTD) 5
Blocked Punt or FG return for TD (BLKKRTD) 5
Blocked Punt, PAT or FG (BLKK) 7
Each Interception (INT) 7
Each Fumble Recovered (FR) 3
Each Fumble Forced (FF) 7
Each Safety (SF) 7
Stuffs (SF) 2
Passes Defensed (PD) 1

Re: IDP n00b

How many teams in your league? It looks like you only have 4 IDP slots, so if the league is small (10,12 teams) you might be able to 'stream' IDPs according to matchup. Just follow the IDP Guru's recommendations for each weekend for IDPs. They are excellent and the week's matchup figures in big. I ended up in an 8 team league (mistake as I thought it was a 14 team league!) and that is exactly what I am doing. I had the highest score this past week going with the Guru's ratings.

I think you do have one of the top DBs in George Wilson and I would hold on to him. The other four, while all good, may have guys who are better OR have a better matchup, so my suggestion would be to check two things:

1. Your waiver wire to see who is available. Then, you might want to throw a few names up here and ask for opinions.

2. The Guru's weekly rankings which I believe come out Friday or Saturday. This won't help you with players from the dratted Thursday game, but will help a lot with those from the other 12 games.

Re: IDP n00b

With a 14 team league it is a little harder to stream IDPs, however, again, you have only 4 IDPs per team for a total of 56 so I think you could have some fun swapping guys out each week based on matchup.

Please don't make any moves based on what I write - I'm just telling you what I would do.

1. I would take the flyer on Chandler Jones. I have him on most of my teams. I was impressed with his Game 1 performance and I just think he has a chance to shine with NE. I have always liked Campbell, but I would still go with Jones. Clemons and Abraham deserve consideration too, but still I would take Jones.

2. I'm not sure how things are going to work out in NO with their LBs, but Lofton is a quality guy. You do have some good FAs available like Lenon, Woodyard, Nicholas, Henderson and especially Butler IMO. I believe I would drop Lofton and take Butler. In fact, I did pick Butler up in two of my leagues. Or, stay with Lofton.

3. Keep Wilson, and, probably keep Hall. I do like Moore too, and to a lesser extent Jenkins and Coleman, but I would likely stay with Hall with Moore my second choice.

Remember, just my humble opinions here based on what I did or would do in your situation. :-)
