Long-time reader, occasional poster here! Love the site!
I play in a 10 team custom IDP league at ESPN. We play the following scoring for IDP: TT = 1 Ass Tack = .5 Sack = 3 INT = 3 FF = 2 PD = 1 Stuffs = 1 My lineup is the following: DL = Jason Pierre-Paul DL = Empty LB = Colin McCarthy LB = Karlos Dansby DB = Eric Berry DB = Roman Harper DP = Lawrence Timmons DP = Mason Foster BN = Darian Stewart I need to fill the empty DL spot before the Week 1 games and I'm wondering if any of the better free agents would be upgrades over Foster or Darian Stewart. These are some of the best FA available: DL = M.Ingram, JJ Watt, Kyle Williams, N.Suh, Robert Quinn, Carlos Dunlap LB = B.Wagner, KJ Wright, James Anderson, Bruce Carter DB = Q.Mikell, H.Smith, J.Babineaux, R.Nelson, M.Griffin Thanks for any help! It's greatly appreciated. I'm really leaning toward M.Ingram or Robert Quinn to fill my other starting DE spot. |

Also Whitney Mercilus and Chandler Jones available as DL. Will either of them get enough time as rookies to matter as a starting DL in my league?

IMHO I think you are pretty set, but need another DL. I would take Robert Quinn or maybe a flyer on Chandler Jones that you mentioned in your second post. I have been selecting him over other higher rated (IDP Guru Guide) players just because I have a hunch he will do well in his situation in NE. The only other one I might consider is replacing Foster with Wagner - I kinda like him and that SEA 'D this year, but I think Foster and Wagner are a close call. |

I agree with the Jones call. I should probably have him ranked higher in my guide. I'm not as sold on Wagner however. I doubt he plays all three downs consistently enough to anything more than an LB3 in a lot of weeks. Foster has a higher ceiling as a three down MLB in Greg Schiano's 4-3 "Miami" read and react defense.
