I Have to Vent

Sorry, no IDP insight or questions here, so if you don't want to read a rant about a draft, just skip this.

Yesterday I had an NFL.com 16 team draft I was looking forward to. It included 14 IDP positions and a good mix of offensive players and bench.

The live draft started with me in the 11 position and I went for McFadden. However, then I noticed instead of snaking back after the 16th pick, it went back to the first position, which just happened to be the League Manager's. Apparently, just before the draft he changed the draft to Custom, put himself in the first position, no snake, and really screwed those in the league in positions 9-16 including me.

Several of us at the draft in these positions protested and asked for an explanation. He ignored us and continued to draft in his prime position.

I left the draft after my second pick and told him I would leave the league unless there was a more fair redraft. I got my assigned draft, and as expected, it was crap. The League Manager had a superb draft - also expected.

Again, I posted a message on the league board protesting this. No response after several hours, but the League Manager picked up more free agents so he saw my message. I sent a final message asking the LM to put all of my players on waivers. I could not leave the league after the draft and there would be an uneven number of players.

He did nothing, so I put all my players on waivers. Less than an hour later there is a new team in the league with all the players drafted for my team. I am locked out.

One other manager who protested at the draft contacted me, but he wanted me to 'screw the commish' by trading my good players to him. It was too late to do that, but I don't think I would have done it anyway.

There are plenty of other leagues and I just signed up for another that looks good. However, I am still really pissed off how this League Manager cheated. I don't think anything can be done and I should just move on, but what a dick!

Anyone have a similar experience or have any advice, suggestions, etc. that might calm me down?

You're better off out of that league. Chances are the LM would have pulled something else as the season progressed. I had a similar situation in a league a few yrs ago and dropped out. Never understood this sort of thing. Kind of like cheating in golf - what's the point?

No, this was not a money league. Even though I have been playing various fantasy sports nearly 20 years and usually have 10 teams in different leagues, I don't think myself good enough to risk real $$$. :-)

I agree I did the best thing to get out. I did discover although they took my team away and have a new name/owner, I can still access the league. I see half of the teams have had no activity since the draft (9 teams out of 16 if you count my old spot) so I think others felt like me. They probably have an 8 team league with an additional 8 'dead' teams and an LM that cheats.
