Currently I am holding Sean Lee, DeMarcus Ware, Patrick Willis, and Collin McCarthy at LB spot and can only play 2. Have been thinking about trading Willis for Rob Gronkowski and replacing him with Karlos Dansby for the bye weeks (since i have 2 Dallas LBs). Would like to hear your thoughts before I do the trade. Prolly overthinking the $#%! out of it. Thank You

Who's your TE now? Unless it is Jimmy Graham, I believe I would make that trade. You have some very good LBs already and it depends a lot on how you are at the TE position.
I think Dansby is also an excellent choice to replace Willis, but you can only play 2 anyway, so with your 3 remaining you appear to be in excellent shape at that position IMO. |
I have Bent Celek currently, my league is sack heavy (1.2 tak, .5 assist, 8 sack, 7 int, 6 FF & FR). So Ware has top 10 possibility. So i'd like to keep both dallas LBs but worry about the byes. Also just saw Tamba Hali is available as a DL. I have Jared Allen, Trent Cole, and Elvis Dumervil there so not sure if I should drop Dumervil for Hali (can play 2). My DBs are George Wilson and Pat Chung but Bernard Pollard is still in FA pool, so torn there too. Def need more roster spots, lol. Thanks for reply

Man, you must be playing in either a 2-team league or a league with other managers who are clueless on IDPs. I think you have most of the top guys at all IDPs. I have a hard time relating as I play in mostly 20 team leagues and feel fortunate to have a couple of the top IDPs.
I like Celek, but IMO he doesn't compare with the Gronk, so I would make that Willis for Gronk deal in a minute. Personally, I'd rather have Dumervil (and I do in several leagues) than Hali. I think both have injury and other issues, but I would still prefer Dumervil. I wouldn't be surprised if Dumervil ended up with more sacks and overall pts. I think Wilson is the keeper, but between the two, I might tend towards Chung. Pollard is on that great defense and may even get you a sack or two that you are looking for. However, I think NE players benefit from the NE offense that scores lots of pts and forces you to throw - in comes Chung. But, who knows, maybe Flacco will rev up that Balt. offense this year too. How big is your bench? Maybe you could stash Hali or Pollard there and drop someone. It sounds like in your league you will have good replacements for the bye weeks, though. |
10 team league, so there are a few really good teams and a few who drafted wierdly IMO. I picked up 3 RBs and Peyton in draft then dipped to defense i have all sleeper WRs (Garcon, Decker, Amendola) that I picked up REALLY late since WR is so deep IMO. Got 6 bench spots but all are taken. Think I'll take your advice and do the Willis trade, pick up Dansby, drop Celek and stay put everywhere else. Thanks a bunch for all the help.
QB- P. Manning (RGIII on Bench) RB- Charles, Rice, (Mendenhall on bench) WR- Garcon, Decker, (Amendola on bench) TE- Bent Celek Flex- F.Jackson DL- Cole, J.Allen (Dumervil on bench) LB- McCarthy, S.Lee (Ware & P. Willis on bench) DB- George Wilson, Pat Chung |
With a starting lineup and a bench like that you will likely win your league.
I'm guess the teams with 'weird drafts' probably have managers who didn't show for the draft (if live) and had to get what the bots gave them. Unfortunately, if they haven't made any subsequent moves like you are doing, you probably have some dead teams in your league. I'm a little embarrassed you would take my advice over some of the wiser souls who post more frequently here. I'm anxious to here the Guru's take on this, and you might want to wait a bit longer for that too, if you can. |

I think you should pull the trigger on the trade. Gronkowski is quite valuable even if he doesn't perform as well as he did last season. He provides owners with really nice "relative" value. Also, I think Dansby is a top 15 LB this year so you really aren't dropping off a ton at the LB position.

Awesome Ty, how do you feel about picking up Hali and dropping Dumervil?

Keep Dumervil.
