Dwight Freeney

Is it possible we see Freeney set a career best in tackles? He's still DL eligible, but has transitioned to OLB- could we see something like 50-60 tackles and 8-10 sacks this year? I'm not too familiar with Indy's defensive scheme, and I know Freeney has become more and more sack dependent as his career has gone one (fantasy wise, at least) but I just haven't seen a lot of buzz around his position switch, and wondered why.

Thanks for any insight!

Re: Dwight Freeney

I think it's highly unlikely. He will probably see a spike in tackle production but it will probably end up in the 35-40 range. And he may have a hard time adjusting to a stand up position. I've always though Freeney was overrated from a fantasy perspective and haven't had him rostered on any of my teams in years. I would avoid him. Let someone else draft him.

Re: Dwight Freeney

I did draft Freeney and Mathis in one ESPN league. It is a 20 team league with deep rosters including IDP, but a small bench of only 5 and I needed some OFF backups there. ESPN lists both Freeney and Mathis as LB/DE so I had flexibility over perhaps a better player which will help in bye weeks. I also picked up Wake and Wimbley who have the dual posn eligibility in ESPN.
