It depends a lot on your league and who shows up in my experience.
If you are in a league with many guys who know idp AND show up for the draft, it might be good as suggested to draft your OFF starters (save the K for last), then hit IDP.
However, in the leagues I've been drafting in many are pretty clueless with IDP and pick guys first like Clay Mathews, Darrell Revis, and Ed Reed. Also, in my leagues there may be only a couple of guys show up and I find when the bots take over their picks they really give them crap, especially IDP. In these cases, I have successfully picked my OFF starters and a backup at QB, WR, RB and TE before moving on to IDP. Using my trust IDP Guru app on my ipad I have been able to assemble an excellent IDP roster even in 20 teams leagues.
Really depends on your league in developing your draft strategy, I have learned.
PS. Yesterday, I was the ONLY one to show up for a 20 team league draft. Except for me, it was really an Auto Pick draft. My IDP squad was excellent because ESPN has so many outstanding IDP rated away from the bots. DT was a very good example as guys like Geno Atkins and Pouha were in the 2000s while guys I never heard of (some out of the league) were the ones rated high by ESPN and scooped up by the bots.
