Draft DL

My first draft was tough. It was Snake NFL.com with 16 teams. I did OK with my OFF, however, it was tough with my IDP. The main problem I had was that of the 16 manager, only 2 showed up. When the draft robots got going the draft sped by. There was 90 secs for each pick, but the robot picks took only about 3 secs. I had the 3rd pick of the draft so some of my picks came quickly - not much time to consider options. My IDP were 3 LB, 4 DL, 4 DB and 3 DP.

Here are the DL I drafted:

Jared Allen
Trent Cole
Kyle Williams
Matt Shaughnessey

I used the Guru Draft Guide as much as possible.

Would you consider any of the following as a replacement for Williams or Shaughnessey?

Mark Anderson
Antonio Smith
Chris Kelsay
Derrick Morgan
Jason Jones
Chandler Jones
Glen Dorsey
Cory Redding

I like Mark Anderson to replace either, but which one, if any?

Thank you

Re: Draft DL

I would probably dump Williams for Anderson. However, I like Derrick Morgan's upside and I think Chandler Jones could be this year's version of JPP. Anderson is the safer play of the three, so I would roster him for now. But definitely keep an eye on Morgan and Jones during the first week or so of the regular season and be ready to pounce if they put up attractive box score numbers.

Re: Draft DL

I got rid of Williams and picked up Chandler Jones. If this league was split out to DT/DE, I would have kept Williams.

I agree with what you wrote about Jones and have been reading good things about him. I figure with NE's offense they will be ahead in games a lot, the opposition will be forced to pass, and that's where Jones comes in.

Anderson would have been the safer play, true, but I find winning fantasy championships is often about risks rather than just going for the sure thing.

Thank you for your advice.
